The Conflict in Ukraine: History and Context

Dr. Alexander Mikaberidze, a native of the Republic of Georgia, will speak on the conflict between Russia and the Ukraine. Dr. Mikaberidze, an internationally renowned historian, is an LSUS history professor and the holder of The Ruth Herring Noel Endowed Chair for the Curatorship of the James Smith Noel Collection. The Republic of Georgia was once part of the Soviet Union until it declared independence in 1991. The Republic of Georgia faced a similar conflict with Russia in 2008.

The talk is at The Shreveport Club, 410 Travis St. in downtown Shreveport. Seating starts at 6 p.m. Dr. Mikaberidze’s talk starts at 6:30 p.m. Dinner follows the program. Tickets include admission to the talk and dinner. This event is sponsored by The Hypogeum Society and the LSUS Foundation.
