From the Chancellor

We are in the first weeks of the Fall 2022 semester, and we are excited at the anticipation of a new academic year.  As we near the end of the second year of the pandemic that has affected each of us, the Pilot Family is optimistic and ready to be proactive about the future of LSU Shreveport.

We are ushering in this new semester with many new leadership roles around the LSUS campus. Angie Pellerin, former Director of Counseling Services, is now our Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Success Initiatives, and we are eager to see how she and her team will impact LSUS students going forward. We also welcomed Jazmin Jernigan, an LSUS alumna, back to campus as our Director of Alumni Affairs. Shelley Moore has taken on the role of Director of Recruitment, and we look forward to what she and her team will accomplish with our incoming freshmen.

Our current students continue to succeed in and out of the classroom. The Pilots baseball team earned a spot in the NAIA World Series in 2022, and we expect Coach Brad Neffendorf and his team to continue this success in 2023. Our men’s basketball team rose to the Sweet Sixteen last year, and we are projected to be there again this year. Active Minds, a nonprofit organization specializing in mental health in young adults, awarded LSU Shreveport’s chapter with the Luke Beischel Chapter Jumpstart Scholarship, providing financial support to this critical student initiative. We cannot wait to see how far our Pilots go this year with the skills they have gained.

Of course, we must thank the LSUS Foundation and its members for your continuous support. You are vital to the university’s growth as we build an academic community that fosters leadership and positive change.

With Pilot Pride,

Larry Clark
Chancellor
